Turn it Loose, a brief history
Turn It Loose first came into being in 1992 after a group of musician friends watched the film "The Commitments" and decided "we can do that". The resulting 11 piece soul band soon gathered a following and the gigs started to roll in.
Initially, Turn It Loose relied heavily on the Commitments movie for their repertoire. This gradually changed as musicians left and were replaced by others with different influences. Consequently the band’s set now comprises not just classic vintage soul, but disco and funk tracks from the ‘70s to the present day.
Turn It Loose’s present line up has remained practically unchanged for two years, and in that time the band has gone from strength to strength. Members of the band have toured with stars from the original Commitments film, others have been in demand as session players both in the studio and on stage, yet still all are 100% dedicated to Turn It Loose. This isn’t surprising really; the band members are like one big family, genuinely enjoying the time they spend together. This explains the friendly, party atmosphere at a Turn It Loose gig; indeed, event organisers have remarked how refreshing it is to have a band with so much energy, having so much fun.
Turn It Loose has gained not only the support of many loyal fans, but also the respect and friendship of many other bands. Couple this professionalism with impeccable stage appearance, and it is easy to see why they are so in demand. They are the choice of entertainment at celebrity showbiz events, weddings, festivals and parties all over the country.
